Yes , I do mean that one. And it definitely does, it is even mentioned 
in the code itself.
(the thresholding seems however to be a variant coming from elsewhere).

I tried to match code with the algorithms I read about.
Finally with some hints from Frank, I managed to understand.
(I keep regretting that Dave - who's clearly the originator - writes 
code that needs again reverse engineering to grasp fully. But it works 
mostly, and that forgives much :))
