I contemplated this in recent past and my conclusion was that at this 
point in multimedia evolution, Red Book CD-A being pretty much dead, it 
would not be worth the trouble of writing a real kernel filesystem. I 
would rather approach this either as a FUSE-based userland fs, or even 
at a higher level, as a file manager plugin (gnome-vfs).
