GTK+ is a nice cross platform toolkit to write GUI code! Which language do you want to program in? C/C++/Python or Java? Assuming you want to write in C, check http://www.gtk.org/tutorial/ . You should find all you want right there. If your GUI is anything more than a window and a button, you might want to look at Glade interface designer too. http://glade.gnome.org/ Hope that helps!
