The post on TC/BC trigerred me to post this mail.
I have been using the - "*Codeblocks*" a cross-platform IDE built around
wxWidgets, designed to be extensible and configurable. Runs on Windows and
Linux.
Possibly should work for solaris also since the libraries on which
codeblocks depends wxWidgets(GUI) and scintilla(editor functionality) build
on solaris as well.

Codeblocks can support multiple compilers, defaults to gcc and has extremely
good IDE functionality. (scintilla library is the basis for a whole lot of
FOSS editors and IDEs).

Try it.
