hi Silvan,

Check for "LDOM Beginners guide in the Sun Blueprints". This is the best How-To
you'll find.

Cheers,

Javi

Hi folks

got the thing running and having now ssh Access to the SCP! Hurray.

on the end, what I was using, was a cisco cable.

I had to lengthen it with a RJ45 Coupler (Ethernet enlargement *gg*)
- and a normal RJ45 PATCH cable.

on the other end I had a compaq PC with XP, minicom on Linux was on
strike, minicom didn't wanted to open up the port, hyperterminal did.

I was able to intercept the SCP Boot, hit *escape*, delete everything
on nvram and then it DID FINALLY A DHCP request! hurray!

now showplatform

sc> showplatform
SUNW,Sun-Fire-T1000

Domain Status
------ ------
S0 OS Standby

and
sc> showhost
Sun-Fire-T1000 System Firmware 6.6.5 2008/07/29 15:28

Host flash versions:
    OBP 4.28.9 2008/06/30 21:24
    Hypervisor 1.6.4 2008/06/06 04:57
    POST 4.28.9 2008/06/30 21:56
sc>

shows me LDOM seems to be already installed.

can someone give me a hint if the Hypervisor is on the right revision
or if I need to do some flashing ahead.

now my next step seems to be to setting up a solaris10 LDOM as
management Domain, right? has someone a good tutorial on that?

I already have a TFTP Server on the network, so what I am planning is
to to the setup via TFTP+NFS, as I want to be able to work
remotely.... man this baby is noisy.

then my questions are also, if I run ldom, how should I partition the
drives?

my plan is to do this:

I run the T1000 with 2 150GB SAS drives (2.5")

I want one DOMAIN with solaris10, running zones
one domain with Debian, running openvz later
one domain with the newest (111 afair) opensolaris build which seems
to be available as sparc now

so I want to share the drives between the zones as good as possible,
and on the Solaris and on the Opensolaris, I'd like to have a
partition of each drive and then run ZFS on it to enable redundancy...
or do I need to configure the Raid before setting up anything?

so many questions ;) But I bought the T1000 to learn something :)

regards
Silvan
