Hi, a big thank you for the active CHOSUG participants who took the time to be at the Booth: - Mika who was the first on booth, with printed materials. It seems that he had fun doing demos on OpenSolaris ! He promised to write an article on the CHOSUG newsletter, topic: his 3G modem running on his OpenSolaris EEE PC - Olivier, who could discover a little more from OpenSolaris, and could even challenge the Linux booths with Brandz for Gentoo ... there is potentially a article to publish too - Silvan, our Ubuntu Guru - Javier, with the live demos. I saw many people living the booth with big eyes, the OpenSolaris LiveCD in hand, saying "woaw ..." and all of you who came to visit us: Philippe, Hector, Hansel, Reto, Elizabeth, Fabien, ... The last day, it was a nice improvised Bern Beer2Beer ...
Some planned actions: - OpenExpo Winthertur 2009, 23/24 september is already under plan, june 8th is the limit of submissions: any volunteer is greatly appreciated for this big event. We need someone to take the lead, and some volunteers to be on booth, please answer to this event if you are volunteer - I'll contact the blender (www.blender.org) to have a Solaris/x64 version of this nice 3D application. They do have a solaris/sparc only, and it seems that their developpers are not aware of the OpenSolaris/x86 version. - Same this to scribus.net, a nice Open Source Desktop Publishing software, actually only for Linux, Wondows, MacOS - Openlinux.org is ready to insert an OpenSolaris in the website, to redirect people needing basic help on OpenSolaris install to our CHOSUG'S wiki/forum - Olivier is ready to hehp to repackage some opensource software that is already outdated in the latest distribution - Javier has written a nice ZFS demo script for this event, it will be posted on the wiki, and anotherone will soon come (DTrace or Containers) - LiveCD media disappeared successfully, we will order a few more ... We will soon publish some pictures of the event. Have all of you a nice week-end. Karim
