Dear CHOSUG members, just a small feed back from our first day at the www.linuxdays.ch that took place in Geneva.
OpenSolaris 2008.05 media CDs had a lot of success. A lot of Linux users group and a lot of people looking for OpenAlternatives to the market standards. I'll try to keep a few media for the B2B session of tomorrow. Clearly, the business around OpenSource solutions is growing. Many local companies were showing business solutions based on OpenSource. OK, Microsoft was there with nothing to show ... maybe to collect some ideas for their next Office Suite or OS ... The Live option of the new OpenSolaris media appeared as a nice suprise to the visitors at the Sun's booth. Some asked for a Live USB stick. Showing Windows XP on top of OpenSolaris amazed some people ... Compiz is really nice to use with OpenSolaris, the new package manager is also very welcome. One last thing, the event is in the second building of the CICG (administrative building) at the ground floor.
