Hi, for those of you who noticed that zone installation take longer on Solaris 10 (a few minutes), I wanted to share with you the time that it takes, effectively on an SSD disk, with build 125 (laptop insatllation):
Installation: ===================================== kb160538 at macsolarispro:~$ pfexec zoneadm -z zclone install A ZFS file system has been created for this zone. Publisher: Using local-ips (http://localhost/). Image: Preparing at /zonefs/zclone/root. Cache: Using /var/pkg/download. Sanity Check: Looking for 'entire' incorporation. Installing: Core System (output follows) No updates necessary for this image. Installing: Additional Packages (output follows) DOWNLOAD PKGS FILES XFER (MB) Completed 35/35 3247/3247 19.5/19.5 PHASE ACTIONS Install Phase 4282/4282 Note: Man pages can be obtained by installing SUNWman Postinstall: Copying SMF seed repository ... done. Postinstall: Applying workarounds. Done: Installation completed in 36.333 seconds. Next Steps: Boot the zone, then log into the zone console (zlogin -C) to complete the configuration process ===================================== cloning should be much faster :) So, for demo, this is effectively perfect.
