Hi Daniel,

It is very difficult to help you without having some more information about
the status of your system.

I can tell you I've been using VirtualBox on OpenSolaris for a long time now
without any major issue so far.

Your problem with the memory may be caused by a lack of physical RAM.
Sometimes applications ask for non-swappable memory (all the shared-memory
is always allocated in the physical memory).

If you are using ZFS, it will block some memory. On my laptop, I have
reduced the minimum amount of memory assigned to the ZFS ARC to 128MB,
instead of the default of 512MB for my configuration.

To know how the memory is used, you can start with:

# *echo "::memstat" | mdb -k*
> ::memstat
Page Summary                Pages                MB  %Tot

Exec and libs                 503                 3    0%

To see the list of process sorted by memory usage, you can launch a "prstat
-s rss".

Hope this helps,

Javi
