Violence at Makerere footbal match

Violence broke out yesterday during a Makerere University inter-hall football match between Lumumba Hall and Makerere University Business School (MUBS).

Chaos broke out after the referee cancelled a would-be winning goal scored by Lumumba. Sections of the spectators attempted to attack the referee who ended the game. The game ended goalless.

A running battle ensued as rowdy fans suspected to be residents of Lumumba Hall staged a roadblock and attempted to stop the MUBS bus from driving to their campus.

Riot Police who came to the scene fired in the air to stop the riot. There are no reports of injuries. Read more in the New Vision.
