Folks,
I doubt that this is a hoax. For one thing, lately the Movement has been making bargantuan effort to don a human face, to the extent that some of its bigwigs have even discovered a couple of rather startling facts: 1) There is a God somewhere and 2) The Movement will not be in power for ever. Discovery no. 2 has led to the now ever popular sermon of "This is not a 1000 year Reich, you had better be nice to opponents". A final discovery, perhapr predicated by the first two, is also startling: political opponents are not enemies and should not be branded so.
For another, February 28, 2003 will not be a Tuesday, but a Thursday; while Feb 18, 2003 was very much a Tuesday in most parts of the world.
Lastly, and this may be hard to believe for some, but typographical errors are actually known to occur in many human writings, including even those that appear in newspapers, as are newspapers known to misquote or even mis-attribute quotes.
So when one sees quotes like ' ... 90% of the people who live in Buganda are not Baganda', oneeds not be overly alarmed. (Actually, in this context, it helps drive home an an important point: federo is not for Baganda, it is for everyone.)
Much ado about nothing? Storm in a tea-cup?
Likely.
Much hay has also been gathered with respect to the Movement's strategic objectives. I see nothing especially untoward about this: parties should have them, and communicate them to the electorate. Secret agendas, however, are entirely another matter.
What we ought focus on, and demand, is a level playing field and that the Movement Party (and all parties) adheres to all international norms of behavior expected of political parties both in political defeat or victory, as the case may be.
A good starting point might be for us to agree on a somewhat more permanent constitution.
What say you?
