Netters,It is true that we Africans can be touchy when it comes to reproducing.
For reasons that should be obvious, human beings cannot breed like
rabbits and expect to live very satisfactory lives. China has a
brutally enforced 1-child policy as result of the reality that resources
needed to live are not infinite. Also, the quantity of children is
has a certain relationship to their 'quality'. Also, we should treat women,
at least, a little better that baby-generating machines!
Even as we are being hammered by HIV/AIDS in Africa, Uganda in particular,
we ought practice sensible family planning: if only by spacing children adquately,
relative to our individual means (income). Hopefully, we can get round
to pre-determining the number of children too. This business of blaming
God does not work anymore: 'Katonda yampadde omwana' -- when did He
come to your bed or whatever? Which relatives have you reached an
agreement with, before hand, who will pay for their fees, medical care,
education, etc, etc? Civilization has given us many ways to control human fertility (for the better). The least we can do is use them. God or nature gave us large brains, relative to anything else in the Animal Kingdom, so that we may usethem to plan our lives, not only just so may use various parts ofthe head to hang our jewellery...
In the case of Brazil, their problem is that they did not slam on the brakes
soon enough! Their population was some 176 millions in 2000. At that time
nearly 40% was under the age of twenty (20) years.
Another thing: ok, Brazil is poor, but compared to which country or countries?
Check o ut the dat for your self. Note their life expectancy, infant mortality rate,
% in poverty (note the level too), dereasing rate of population increase.

were $60 per month or $720 per annum, as it is for a
few individuals, wed all be dancing in the streets.
Sooo, should Ugandans (Africans) breed irresponsibly as a national policy in the 21st Century?
