'Obote not responsible for murders' Former Ugandan President Milton Obote
The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) says its President General now exiled in Lusaka Zambia cannot be held responsible for the murders that occurred in Luweero in the 1980’s. A new report from the America based Human Rights Organisation, Human Rights Watch names Milton Obote among leaders who should be brought to justice for crimes they committed during their leadership. While addressing a press conference on Wednesday, the Presidential Policy Commission Chairman Dr. James Rwanyarare said while he cannot obstruct anyone from taking Obote to trial, he is sure that it’s President Museveni’s rebels who should be held responsible. He called on Ugandans to support the UPC into power saying it will express the rule of law to rebuild the country. He says the movement government has not expressed the rule of law because it uses its powers to deny it’s citizens rights and freedoms provided in the constitution. \\\\\\\"Always be a first rate version of yourself instead of a second rate version of someone else.\\\\\\\\\\\\\" Njoki Paul University of Pretoria -------------------------------------------- This service is hosted on the Infocom network http://www.infocom.co.ug
