The question then is: why is The Monitor trying to mislead the people of Uganda to believe a rather different version of the story below? That is the Question. Is this, on the part of The Monitor newspaper, an attempt to hide, so to say, certain things, in move to please or rather Pander to some Big man in the NRM Hierarchy.
A Clarification of the story by The Monitor is now in order..especially after what has been written below.

Reference is made to an article “Child Killed in Gulu Shootout” published on Saturday September 20, 2003.
The article is a gross misrepresentation of facts detailing the incident that occurred on September 19, 2003 in Aywee, Pece that involved the murder of a 14-year-old girl, not a 10-year-old as was reported by your paper.
The girl was Adong Grace, not Akello Acii as reported in your article.
During the scuffle that followed after security agents arrived at the scene, she tried to escape but was ordered to stop. This is when she was shot at point blank by a single bullet. Your article gives the impression that she was caught in a crossfire, which is not true.
In addition, there was no shoot out as reported! This information is general knowledge in Pece area where I live.
I also urge the relevant authorities to objectively investigate this incident because the issue of culpability arises in such an instance.
