Kampala JUSTICE Forum president Muhammad Kibirige Mayanja has said the Government's war policy against the Lord's Resistance Army rebels has failed."The mass killings of Ugandan citizens in the north is a sign that the Government has failed to end the war by military means. We can not continue to tolerate the military option while the country suffers. We should follow in the foot steps of the people of Haiti," he said.
While addressing a press briefing recently, Kibirige called for the demonstrations against the war to be moved to Kampala."If the Government does not act to stop these nasty incidents, the demonstrations against this 17-year insurgency should be shifted to Kampala so that we share the grief with the people in the north," Kibirige said.
He said despite the positive move to negotiate an end to the war in south Sudan, the Government had not come up with a clear strategy to bring peace to the north.Kibirige condemned the Cabinet's refusal to declare the northern region a disaster area.
"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the state."
- Dr. Joseph M. Goebbels - Hitler's propaganda minister
