Goodfrey:

I do not buy the notion that the LRA is engaged in conducting ambushes against innocent Ugandan Citizens.  After all Museveni told us that there are only sixty LRA rebels left...Moreover, we are further told that the UPDF is in "hot pursue of the LRA rebels in Sudan" how then can the LRA rebels (who are deep in Southern Sudan and are being pursued by the almighty UPDF troops) conduct ambushes in Soroti?

If indeed, it is true that the "LRA" conducted this latest raid in Soroti, then Logic would dictate that Museveni is lying to the people of Uganda about the presences of the LRA in Sudan. Which brings to question: who is really killing our people and pretending to be "LRA" forces?

Four injured in suspected LRA ambush

Four passengers have sustained serious injuries in a suspected LRA ambush in Soroti district.

The passengers were traveling in a coach belonging to OTADA Bus Company.

The bus was heading to Kampala from Lira District via the eastern route. The ambush took place at Awach Village 8km west of Soroti Town.

One of those injured was reported to be a UPDF soldier who jumped out of the bus.

The RDC Soroti Musa Ecweru confirmed the ambush on Friday morning and was staged by thugs and not LRA rebels.

Those injured were rushed to Soroti Hospital.

'Kony will be killed in 4 months time'

Meanwhile, the UPDF 4th Division Spokesman 2nd Lt. Ronald Kakulungu on Tuesday said the Lordâs Resistance Army (LRA) rebel chief Joseph Kony will be killed in four months time.

Kakulunguâs statement comes at a time when the UPDF in collaboration with forces in Sudan launched a search for the rebel chief.

He says with the UPDF deployed in Southern Sudan, Kony will have no where to go but reap what he sowed.

He adds that the LRA in Uganda have started sharing guns because most of the weaponry has been captured by UPDF soldiers in various gun battles in the North.

2nd Lt. Kakulungu says that the 4 months to the end of Kony is his own position, not that of the army.

"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the state."
