Armed Pokot warriors on Wednesday raided Namalu sub-county in Nakapiripirit and
reportedly killed at least eight people and injured three.
District officials said the warriors came from both the Kenya and Uganda Pokot
community.
About 1,000 head of cattle was allegedly stolen during the raid at Lomorimor village.
Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF) 3rd division commanding officer Silver Kayemba
said only one person was killed.
He said the Pian pastoralists killed four rustlers.
Kayemba said the UPDF was pursuing the raiders who fled towards the Uganda-Kenya.
He said it was the second raid in Nakapiripirit in less than one week adding that the
previous raid was on Saturday night and 36 head of cattle were raided.

Nakapiripirit district secretary for security, John Loonye said the district was in
panic after the ethnic Kadam community from the mountains recently raided cattle from
Tokora sub-county.
"We have also heard a threat from the Matheniko Karimojong who constantly disturb the
areas of Lolacat, Kakomongole and Nabilatuk ar," he said.
