Members of UPC, other Ugandans and friends are to hold a vigil at Uganda High Commission in London on Independence Eve, Friday 8th October, to mark the 42 independence anniversary. The vigil is to lament dictatorship, death and suffering of our peoples for over 30 years out of the 42, when the country has been subjected to military dictatorships, particularly Idi Amin for 9 years and Yoweri Museveni for 19 years both of whom have seen the death of hundreds of thousands of our peoples. While mourning and lamenting, we will also be demanding the immediate return of the country to democratic governance and an end to 17 years of vicious NRA Museveni war against the defenceless peoples of northern Uganda. The vigil begins at 3pm until midnight when; exactly 42 years ago, Dr. Milton Obote was handed the seal and instrument of Independence from Colonial Britain. Meanwhile, on Saturday 9th October, the UPC External Bureau - UK invites the pleasure of the company of its members and friends to join us for an evening of reflection, discussion, music and comemorative drink at CHARLIES CLUB, 386 STREATHAM HIGH STREET, LONDON SW16 6HT; from 9pm till late. Please circulate as you see fit. For further information you can contact either; Charles - 07746 193 048; Rotzett - 07947 721 824; Jeff - 07930 531 112/07951 039 148; or, Ochieno - 07961 104 408.
