Which region in Uganda, under the NRM military dictatorship, still does not have NRM supported Militias...let see Lira has Amuka; kitgium has is it Kifaro, Teso has Arrow Boys, Arua one so does Karamjong ( anti- catlle theft Unit) so does Gulu, and now Hoima, Kibaale,..and may be Kisoro..only Buganda does not have one...otherwise the whole country is now covered with either Militias of LDU!!!!! HOIMA and Kibaale districts have been ordered to recruit 3,000 local defence unit personnel (LDUs) to beef up security in the districts.
President Yoweri Museveni made the order following threats from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) and RPF.
The commander of the 1st division, Brigadier Levi Karuhanga, said the recruitment exercise would start soon.
Karuhanga said a battalion of 1,500 LDUs would be deployed in Hoima and another in Kibaale district.
He was on Wednesday addressing residents of Kiziranfumbi sub-county in Hoima district.
Karuhanga appealed to local councillors to recommend disciplined people for the exercise.
Karuhanga, flanked by the sector commander of Bunyoro Buganda region, Maj. Joram Kagezi, said "Some LCs recommend people with bad records like thieves to join the army so that they can get rid of them. This is bad; we also need good people."

He hailed the people of Bunyoro for rejecting the ADF rebels when they infiltrated their area three years ago.
Karuhanga said Museveni was committed to ensuring peace.
