KAMPALA - Unknown thugs in Kiboga district on Monday night murdered a
Special Police Constable (SPC). Police detectives say Mr Charles
Tamuturanyi, attached to Kiboga Police Station, was killed while on
duty.
He was found dead in Kinoni village, Kiganda parish, Mulage
sub-county. "The body was found lying in a pool of blood. A motorcycle
which the deceased was riding that night had been abandoned at the scene
of the murder," said the Central region CID officer, Mr Paul Kato on
Friday.
"He was hacked on the head and neck several times. We
are investigating the motive behind the murder," Katto said while
briefing journalists in Kampala.
Meanwhile, SPC Mohammed Serwadda attached to Ntura Police station in
Ntura village, Kyabadaza, in Mpigi district has been arrested for
shooting a suspect dead. The suspect, Mr Yahaya Sentamu who had been
gambling with colleagues, was trying to escape arrest when he met his
death.
"On sighting a police man coming to arrest them, the group tried to
flee. Instead of shooting in the air, he fired at the group, killing
Sentamu," Katto told journalists. He added: "It was reckless to kill
a suspect on a minor offence like gambling. This cannot be a stray
bullet. He died after over bleeding." Katto said Serwadda would be
charged with murder.
