To say that FDC is NRM is to say that NRM is
UPC. All of us were UPC supporters during our Secondary School and University
days (in the 60s and 70s) campaigning especially for the Common Man's Charter
and The Move to the left. Few of us have any regrets because at the time, this
was the direction the wind of change in emerging countries was blowing:
Nationalism and Patritism.
When Amin overthrew this position, we disagreed and
protested and were thrown into exile to embark on struggles to remove
him.
By the time Amin was removed 7 years later, we were
now adults working in the diaspora with modified perspectives and more
independent and analytical approaches to politics. The UPC we had supported as
youths had also shed itself of the comrades whose thinking we were
conversant with. It was time for new directions. NRM presented this opportunity for most of the former UPC youths
with like minds. They had left UPC. And UPC hwas also saying something
similar to Baleke Bagende as it was
amassing new sychophants who kept convincing A. M. O. that all was well, only
those with him mattered, there was no need for reconciliation, etc.
NRM has been kicking out anyone who dares question Mr. M-7's manipulations to be the only
'Bull' in the political 'Kraal'. Some people's only occupation is politics. A
Politician's main preoccupation is Talking. Once you
kick a politician from where he was talking, you are asking him/her to find
another platform where he/she can continue to practice his/her vocation. NRM
kicked out and jailed some of our colleagues who have decided to form FDC as a
struggle against NRM, inter alia.
The iference I get from your assertion
is:once NRM, you are forever NRM. But why not once UPC, you are
forever UPC ?

Any political orgnization that hemorrhages members has to ask
itself why. It can't be the same reason each time someone leaves.

Reliable sources are informing The
Communication Group that Godfrey Akanga "Gook", My fellow Luwerorian
has deserted UPC to FDC with a high post too.
Yea as the jaw is dropping it is true to
the dot.
For the record, the elections going to
happen in Uganda is a fracas, I know that and you know that, and Gook
my best friend knows it. We have allot of stress on our population
especially those in exile.
But we have even the Kibuuka's who swear
on the bible that Federalism in Uganda is not going to happen so it is
better they drop it and go to join NRM government so that they
can fight it from the inside.
I have been in this struggle a very long
time, it is more than 19 years now, but I prefer to make a statement
that I will back up tomorrow, and that statement might as well be
wrong. But I will not join NRM or any dying political party in this
life time. For the lives of Ugandans
involved in this gamble mean more to me than personal gains. But that
is me and not Gook or Mukulu Kibuuka.
We were born in very strange days indeed,
that is why I should sleep tonight this offended
