I read Sam Olara response to Robert Kabushengas malicious vicious attack on his late father Gen Bazilio Olara Okello and people from northern Uganda with lots of interest and attention, because I have one the best novels of the times that Olara discussed to illustrate his arguments. The book is entitled, Inside the Third Reich by Steers, the Armament Minister in the then Nazi Germany.
All Mr Sam Olara said in his most moving
and well research article is true. Really many well meaning people/colleagues have told Robert K but he is just that zealot.
Robert Ks over zealous and reckless deceptive behaviour, like that of his mentor President Yoweri Museveni has its roots in his background and life style. A son of a typical broken family background, he longs for recognition and acceptance that he never naturally had from a stable family, his marriage in its first 6 months experience the most scandalous thing under the sun but the same desire not to fail makes him swallow the bitter reality and move.
Check children from say alcoholic/violence families, if they do not take it they do the most opposite thing because they feel, never in life must they be associated with the disgrace of their upbringing, in the West they migrate to start another life e.g. move from USA to UK or vice versa, now here Robert wishes to reinvent himself, poor soul!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He knows nothing next to moderation and psychologically he is driven by a desire not to fail like his father failed socially to stabilise a family and bring it up. Such children are driven by desire to be perfectionist but I dont believe that in social transformation (Poiltical this time) is where we want perfectionist am afraid. For pure scientist who deal with cold facts. 2 inches must be so, 59 degrees must be so, a plane load will take 20 metric tonnes and that will be so lest it wont fly.
Robert Ks time will come; northern Ugandans should just stay their case. Unfortunately he is shaming and smearing the hands of us Westerners with the blood of Northerners. He will have no where to go, we will not accept him to return with his blood stained hands to the West, except he will have to do as his failure dad did; to go into exile too with none hunting him except shame. Guess what, the print media is such a thing that 20 yrs from now they will reproduce those articles and he will regret.
I worked in the north for 5 yrs and have a fair understanding of the dynamics and i know that if there a place that has been unfairly dealt with it is northern Uganda, I always tell my colleagues/friends/westerners and foes that there as are many good Acholis as there are westerners my home place and as many vagabonds in western as there are in northern Uganda, none has monopoly of good people or bad ones. But the demonisation and degradation of northerners by my kinsmen Robert K and others, is something which will haunt us till our graves.
Lastly, I have never never and will never buy that crap of story about Luttamaguzi, it is invented to boost MU7's ego
larger than life image and when you place it in hands of idiots like Robert guess the next thing. If he thinks it is true why wont they let other bush fighters tell their story, when Monitor started series of the same they were told to stop, i.e. we should never hear a different story except catalogue of lies, full of empty rhetoric and lies. Obbo calls it quarrel - some piece of work unlike the one of Nelson Mandela, so warm and passionate full of the gracefulness that accompanies the man.
