Netters,
  Social what!?!
Social Democratic Party. Give me a break. We even do not have any underclass
in DP anywhere.
Me thinks, whoever is behind it, the target is UPC. You don't creat a
competitor with the same name. At leat they should called it Uganda Peoples
Democatic Party. UPC has refused to die. It is camouflaged as DP, but it is
virile. Poison. Wait and see how the deck of cards are going to collapse when
the mother DO shakes its core...!

With or without the defection, FDC is a party that is not going to die; only
those with no conviction, defecting here and there will. For, they would have
demonstrated their opportunism, and therefore a waste to Uganda generally, and
the population in particular. So they will defect at their own peril.

Uganda needs committed people. The country needs change; and if those who saw
this need defected to form opposition, I don't see how they can defect back,
unless they were merely seeking opportunity. I therefore see no one defecting;
those who will, however shall baptized themselves opportunists and moles, that
I am sure no one will ever trust; therefore good to be wasted.

We have new generations coming every year. Why would someone waste time with
a geeza being used, or downright opportunist without political conviction?

With or without them defectors, the party I am sure shall move forward if the
leadership are determine. Good examples are in canada where you live. Some
parties gripped with defections and defeat in elections, have barely function
effectively. The Conservative is one good example. But today, several years
later, after their terrible defeat under former PM Brian Mulroney they are back
in Ottawa, and most likely going to expand their rank and files into majority
government. So give us a break with those wishful thinking or even dreams!

There is a very large bomb of defection to the movement of some body from the
leadership of FDC that is going to drop before the next election. Please kindly
I beg, that you do not count on that aristocratic core before this very massive
bomb explodes.

Good luck. But, this looks a tight rope to walk.

Usually, a social democratic party emanate from the people ( worker and other
disadvantaged / marginalised minority groups). Literally translated, it is
about justified share of resourses and solidarity.

O.k., Uganda has developed potential business class and the gap between the
have and have-nots is alarming. Question is if that is potential enough to
boost a social democratic ideology.

The way I would have done, is to anchored a social democratic party to the
workers and the various unions.

Seems like next elections gonna be not only interestiong but intricate too. Can
wait to see the SDP, UPC and NRM /Movement wooing the same grazing land. A
least the FDC has it's "aristocratic" core.
Good luck
