Did that worry you more than when he installed the British flag on his car
and wanted to be driven to Kampala? Just curious !!!!

Fellow citizens,
I was once told that the reason Lule(RIP) was despised by the Military
Council was that in his supposedly ''president office'', the official
language was Luganda. I heard that the late Chief of Staff Ojok Oyite(RIP)
confronted Lule about the use of Luganda in the ''president'' office, but he
Lule told Oyite to go hang, if he couldn't understand Luganda very well. The
last straw came when Lule addressed a rally in Entebbe in Luganda, those who
were present at the rally could tell that Lule's presidency won't last for
long. Baganda sure do love their mother tongue, I supposed there is nothing
really wrong with it.
Derek.

WBK/ Owor
The Kenyan pilot who was near the Ugandan helicopters heard
a) them communicating among themselves in what he thought is Luganda
b) Heard them asking for instructions in Englsh and then resorting to
'vernacular'
c) Heard the Ugandan controller advise them to increase speed to 170 knots
in English and then in 'vernacular'
I am also not sure that the Kenyan pilot could tell the difference between
Luganda and any other Ugandan vernacular.
The question should be WHY they spoke in Luganda or any other Ugandan
language and
WHY they deviated from the air route they had given to the Kenya Defence .
Pre-planned ?

Just for the records, most Kenyans refer to Ugandans as Waganda and so most
would easily think
any language the Waganda speak is luganda.
Now even if it was Lugunda that was spoken,is that enough reason to conflate
the mishap to its'
being used.
Former life President Field Marshal Idi Amin did address the UN assembly in
Lugunda.Did the skies
come down?

Folks:
The story in the Kenyan paper the star should be takenj with a lit of
skepticism. The late pilots were Captain Letti (RIP from Arua) and Lt
Nahamya (RIP). Could they really have been communicating in Luganda?
The preess having afiled day because Ugandan authorities have not come out
to speak to the media. That gap has created space for such
questionablereporting.
The credibility of the star in Kenya is akin to red Pepper or something like
that.
There used to be footblall player by the name of Micheal Letti-I believe
they were related to former Amin era governor Col. Ona.

The Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union
Commission for Somalia, Ambassador Boubacar Diarra, has urged the United
Nations (UN) and the international community to expedite the replacement and
deployment of Uganda's helicopters that crashed on their way to Somalia.
Three Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) Mi-24 choppers crashed on Sunday
in the jungles of Mt. Kenya.
These were part of a fleet of four that left Soroti to Garissa en route for
Somalia for war with the Al-Shabaab militants.
"As AMISOM continues to expand into open country, the deployment of these
long awaited enablers, authorized under UN Security Council Resolution 2036,
remains critical for operational, as well as logistical support and medical
evacuation," he said in a statement obtained by The New Times yesterday.
He said despite the setback, AMISOM remained committed to improving the
security of the people of Somalia.
"At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the
bereaved, as well as with the people and Government and security forces of
Uganda," said Ambassador Diarra.
"We are gravely concerned for the safety of those still unaccounted for and
continue to pray that they will be recovered unharmed".
Meanwhile, the Ugandan army yesterday identified the two Air Force officers
who died in the multiple helicopter crashes.
"Capt. William Letti and Lt Patrick Nahamya were Pilot and Co-Pilot of
Helicopter no AF 806, MI 24. The search for the rest of the crew members of
this chopper still continues," UPDF spokesperson, colonel Felix Kulayigye
said in a statement.
The helicopters landed at Eldoret over the weekend and later left for
Nanyuki where they were scheduled to refuel before flying to Garissa. While
one helicopter made it to Garissa as scheduled, three went missing.
