Queen subway shooting in Toronto leaves man in life-threatening condition
<http://www.cbc.ca/> Description: CBCCBC 1 hour 44 minutes ago The province's Special Investigations Unit is investigating after a man in his 20s was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition following a shooting at Queen subway station Friday night. Toronto EMS said the man was taken to St. Michael's Hospital after being shot at around 8 p.m. Police were investigating a man on a subway car when there was "an interaction between the man and the police. The man was subsequently taken to hospital with gunshot wounds and is in stable condition," the SIU said in a news release. The SIU is called in whenever police officers are involved in incidents in which someone has been seriously injured, dies or alleges sexual assault. A witness who only wanted to be identified as Dinali told CBC News she had just entered the north side of the subway platform when she heard six or seven shots in a row on the south side. "Everyone just turned and ran," she said. "We just ran for the barricades and had to start jumping the turnstiles and ran up." Subway service has been halted between Union and Bloor stations for the majority of the night. The SIU has assigned nine investigators and four forensic investigators to investigate the incident.
