We have a developing issue in the city where a pregnant woman has been
killed, her tiny baby delivered by emergency C-section after a drive by
shooting in Rexdale. The woman was hit in by at least one bullet while
sitting in the back seat of a car travelling on John Garland Blvd near
Jamestown Cr. The shots are thought to have come from a car headed in the
opposite direction. A team from Sick Kids is helping with the care of the
infant at Sunnybrook Hospital. A very quick decision was made at the crime
scene that even though the mother is dead, the baby inside her was alive,
and an emergency C-section was done and the baby retrieved. As by 3.15 am
this Toronto morning time, Police was stating that the baby is still alive
in Sunny Brook hospital.
This is developing right now.
