By the power entrusted to him by her majesty, The Right Honorable prime
Minister of Canada is appointing a Governor General of Canada. Former
astronaut Julie Payette will be Canada's next Governor General, Payette was
born in Montreal and served as chief astronaut of the Canadian Space Agency
from 2000 to 2007. She took part in the mission on the Space Shuttle
Discovery to the International Space Station in 1999 and became an officer
of the Order of Canada in 2010.
The official announcement is expected to be made on Thursday, tomorrow.
