OS X uses a server type of input method, and this enables to keep same input states in all windows, I think. However, uim currently doesn't use such system and uses separated management system per input context (mostly corresponding to a window). Of course it is possible to implement such server type of system using uim, so any user contribution is welcome. > Another very helpful feature in OS X is that if I am in hiragana mode, > but I hold shift, I can type katakana. > > Is it possible to do either of these in uim with Anthy UTF-8? No with current uim's Anthy UTF-8. If you can use Mozc with uim, you can use this feature though.
