Is anyone else seeing problems with hotmail customers getting email into their
hosted domains?

We're seeing issues where by hotmail seem to be totally ignoring the MX records
and going straight for the A record … which doesn't always work when their mail
is hosted on another box and the A record is purely a web server

I would see this periodically but very randomly and no-one at hotmail seemed to
think it was an issue, however this seems to have gotten a whole lot worse this
week with all inbound emails from hotmail to fido.net, redmail.com, etc totally
ignoring the MX's (not even trying them) and going straight to the A record

Any suggestions gratefully received

So far I've been told

its my DNS (but they can resolve the A record, just not the MXs)
there was a suggestion that IPv6 might be to blame and they either can't talk
IPv6 to our NSs or to our MXs - so we've dropped v6 from some of the DNS
entries .. but still they ignore the MXs and go straight to the A

M$ are staying silent :(

Oddly though emails to fidonet.com work … just not fido.net

Now fidonet.com has no v6 in it's DNA currently .. which is why we were looking
at IPv6 issues (again)
