I only remember it because I think there was supplementary guidance saying that 25km was proposed for the new revision which was "just" longer than the distance between Slough and Interxion LON1. I left the industry before seeing that guideline becoming updated, so I don't know if that became the case or not. Needless to say, it's only a guideline, and while further away is "better" it will also come down to things like a sane distance for real-time replication of SANs etc. There's a reason why there's a lot of DCs out in Slough / Hemel Hempstead... Other than the Docklands becoming less attractive over time. M
