Hi All,

Not sure if anyone was aware but we saw a Chiller failure (seems to be
regarding a mechanical UPS from what I've seen on the Equinix emails) in
LD9/PowerGate 2 (the long, newer building). We saw temperatures on inlet as
high as 41 degrees C on a number of servers for a few hours.

Something also set the fire alarm off shortly afterwards - supposedly a faulty
sensor. Can only imagine the chaos going on in there yesterday!

The interesting thing is that we saw this notification from Microsoft regarding
Azure;

Starting at approximately 14:00 UTC on 14 Sep 2020, a single Zone in UK South
has experienced a cooling failure and Storage, Networking and Virtual Compute
resources have been shut down as part of our automated processes to preserve
the equipment and prevent damage.

While we didn't get to the point of having to shut anything down, we were able
to shift customers off to our other DC facility without any issues.

So if you have stuff in LD9 like us, and UK South, you might want to consider
UK West (Cardiff) or EU North (Ireland) as you might wind up with your compute
in the same location! I know there are three zones in UKS but we're reviewing
our use of it now.

Regards,
