At present, the ULC's serialization infrastructure support serialisation of ULC widgets from server to client but not the other way round. Instead of sending the UIButton instance, send its oid (UIProxy#getId()) to the server. On the server-side you can get the server side ULCProxy using the method ULCProxy#getSession().getRegistry().find(oid). I hope this helps.
