You right, during the connection in progress these errors handled
properly by the client and it is terminated ok if the connection
couldn't be established.
The problem regards already established session. If the server is shut
down after the connection is established between ULC client and the
server problem described by me below appears.

What do you mean under the "how the ULC client is deployed" term?
We are using the Standalone ULC Application via the EjbConnector.

If ULC client (JNLP/Applet) cannot connect to the server, you will get

error dialog saying "could not send request to the server". After which
the
client is terminated.
