No this is not possible. Though ULC is HTTP based, it uses the same URL for
the serverside application in all its requests.

Programmatic authorization is possible.

Yes we have used JAAS based authorization in one of our clients' project.

Moreover Principal getUserPrincipal() method on ApplicationContext gets the
currently authenticated user from the container.

We do not have any experience with Acegi.
