Hello, everyone! I have just been perusing this wonderful transcription by Teena and came across the bit about "first footing". In our home, my father always stepped outside at midnight and came back in so the first person through the door in the new year was a *dark-haired man* bringing good luck with him. I was always led to believe that was the ancestors' tradition and yet, in this article, it seems that it needed to be a *fair-haired man* to bring good luck.
Does anyone know more about "first footing"? Was the hair colour different in Ireland, Scotland and England? A Happy Christmas to you all and may 2021 bring each and every one of us good health and much happiness!
