I understand that Google is more than a simple crawler/search engine in that it prioritizes results based on a complex analysis of links. By participating in censuring it would therefore automatically begin to affect linking and ultimately (and artificially) to steer public interests.

Any other good search engines to suggest?

After hearing about Google, Yahoo, and others conspiring with the government of China to violate the basic rights of its citizens (in Yahoo's case actually conspiring to imprison) can anybody recommend another good search engine?

Has something changed recently or is this the same google vs. china thing?
In talking with the google people (Sergey Brin was here) and people
asked him about this, he said that given a choice between between china
totally blocking google, vs. google partially blocking material to china,
but still letting some through, he would rather go with the later -
which I fully understand and support.

FYI, most have probably seen this, but here is a link where you can
(visually) compare what links differ between google.com and china's
google.
