Dear all - I am a brand new member of the list and do not have much experience with Linux. I am also a new faculty member on this campus. I just got a new computer which I plan to use exclusively for computations - mainly Matlab and C. A friend recommended to me to go with Linux and despite my initial reluctance I did follow his advice. The computer came from Dell with Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS already installed. Since I received it, I had a hard time making any progress. I constantly get error messages and I suspect that Dell messed up the installation. I was wondering if there is any graduate student willing to help me set up the computer, provide support from time to time, and teach me Linux along the way (of course, for a stipend). As I said, I don't need anything fancy and I am only interested in computation. If somebody has the time and is willing to provide some help, please let me know. Thanks a lot in advance.
