Hi, folks, I was curious if anyone knew the status of Microsoft's VC1 codec on Linux. I need to convert some of my video into something that's a little smaller than MPEG2, but will actually work with my Xbox 360 for streaming (which rules out H.264, I think), and retain 5.1 DD audio. All the source files are full bitrate MPEG2, so transcoding shouldn't introduce too many artifacts.
It _looks_ as if there's native VC-1 playback in Mplayer and Xine at this point, if not a bit on the slow side. That's fine for my purposes, but I was hoping someone might give me a bit of personal anecdote on the topic, if that's possible? Thanks! -DMZ
