Yes, from things I read I did get the idea that Cowon players are quite
Linux friendly. My only reservations about the iAudio U3 are 1) it seems
to come no larger than 2 GB (which is sort of the minimum of what I'd
consider), 2) I read a review that said the FM tuner wasn't that great, 3)
the same review said the controls aren't that great (but that's highly
subjective).
It does sound neat otherwise. It supposedly supports OGG and FLAC. The
other upside is that it's comparatively cheap.

the Cowon (iAudio) brand is extremely linux friendly. I've got an iAudio x5,
and one of my main buying decisions was that it would work easily with
linux. As I understand it, all of Cowon's players function as generic mass
storage devices running a fat32 filesystem. So, if you can mount a fat32
disk, you can use a Cowon product with linux no sweat.
iAudio flash players seem to be generally well regarded for battery life and
sound quality, but as I'm not in the market for a flash player I'm not up to
speed on all the other ones you've mentioned.
