You should be able to find a Treo 650 on the cheap. Those will almost certainly work with Linux - Palm support has always been the most reliable of the various synch systems.

Specifically I'd like to, at minimum, be able to back up my contacts, and preferably be able to sync contacts and calaneder entries with some piece of software on the PC. An added bonus would be the ability to move mp3 ringtones and such to the phone. I'm sure that all this and more is possible with some "smart phones", but I'm constrained by cost and carrier (Sprint) to the following possibilities: LG LX-160 Samsung M300 Sanyo SCP-3100 Sanyo KATANA II Sanyo SCP-3200 Motorola MOTORAZR V3m Samsung M510 Does anyone know anything about getting these to work with Linux or, even better, have some personal experience? I know bitpim seems to be popular software to interface with phones, but I can't find a definite statement that any of these work with bitpim except the SCP-3100, and it seems to only do limited stuff. If you don't have any info about these specific models, can you comment on which manufacturers (if any) are generally most likely to have phones that work with Linux? Thanks, Nick
