My bad, evidently they left the "annex" there open and renamed it
after the main prison was closed.

Greetings,
My name is Mark Shanty, and I'm the Principal of the
Jessup Correctional Institution Education Department. I have been
tasked with implementing new and innovative educational programs
as my institution transitions from a maximum to medium security
institution. Recently, several employees and I have been
developing an idea to create IT course offerings. The primary
purpose is to facilitate offenders' obtaining the necessary skills
to transition into the workforce or pursue post secondary academic
offerings. It is our aim to develop a curriculum utilizing Linux
(Open Source) software and Open Courseware materials. Currently,
we are in the very early stages of development and stand in need
of persons with expertise in Linux and Open Source software titles
such as "The Gimp", and "QCAD". We are seeking volunteers who
might be interested in doing peer review of our project, in
assisting in designing the course offerings, and in serving as
instructors/facilitators to aid and develop our support staff. We
are open to professors, students, and professionals who may be
able to assist us in any form or fashion. Our modest requirements
are that individuals who enter the institution must be able to
successfully pass a criminal background check. Of course,
knowledge or expertise with Open Source software is a major plus.
If you are interested in this project or know of anyone who is,
please email me back or feel free to give me a call at
(410)799-0100 ext. 2803. We are a department of the Maryland State
Department of Education that operates in a Maryland Division of
Corrections Correctional facility.
Thank you very much for your time.
Mark Shanty, Principal
