I don't know how many of you remember me, but I had previously asked
if people would be willing to allow me to install some software on
their Linux boxes for some experiments involving metropolitan area
geolocation. I ran into a lot of problems with that, to the point
where we're going to take a different approach for getting the
software at a few diverse vantage points throughout the area. So, I
no longer need anyone's help with actually performing the experiment
probes.

However, there is still something that you could do that I would
really appreciate (and that hopefully won't inconvenience you much).
Our current algorithm requires a lot of landmarks, that is, computers
with known IP addresses and geographic locations. It's a little more
complicated than that, since IP addresses change, so we really would
like people to provide a DNS name instead (which you could get through
no-ip.org for instance). In any case, if you think you might be
comfortable with giving me that information, I would really appreciate
it. You can find out a little bit about the project and submit your
information from this web page:

Thanks again. I hope I haven't been too much of a nuisance with this,
and I should really try to find a way to pay back the UM-LINUX group.
Even though I've been subscribed to the list for years, I rarely
respond to it and I still have never come to any meetings or anything.
If there's some way in which I can help, let me know. :)
