Hi, folks,
My employer needs some new grads (or soon to be new grads) to help us staff up. Here's the listing: ========================= Java Application Developer Carr Astronautics, a leader in Space System Sciences since 1992, seeks recent graduates to support a large system development and integration project supporting Ground System Development. The successful candidate will join one of the fastest growing software services teams in the DC area. This high-visibility position will be a key player in the development of a complex messaging based system. Supporting detailed system design, UML modeling and a large amount of java coding, and testing, the candidate will be exposed to the most of the system lifecycle. The successful incumbent will gain extensive exposure to industry leading technology and methodologies. Carr is an employee-oriented firm, with flexible hours, excellent benefits and a culture that emphasizes career and technical development. Carr offers competitive salaries, an excellent benefits package and an office easily accessible by metro and major freeways. Our office is casual with a collaborative and fun atmosphere. The Carr team includes industry-recognized leaders in scientific algorithm and software development. Carr staff frequently present papers and presentations at leading industry and academic conferences as well as publish articles and books on scientific and software topics. Primary responsibility will be as part of a team working to design, develop, and test a multi-threaded application for the next generation of weather satellites. The system consists of clients and a server, both running on multi-core LINUX platforms. The server ingests a large volume of product data at high rate, including images that are 22,500 pixels on a side, and runs a battery of diagnostic and computer vision quality control algorithms in real time. Results are stored in a database. Clients support browsing and large format video image display. Excellent technical writing and communication skills are also a huge plus. The company is small but growing fast. Great work environment, great people, and really excellent benefits. The work is interesting and satisfying, and you'll get valuable experience learning how government contracts work in the real world. If you're interested, email me your resume, and I'll pass it along to the appropriate folks. I got my first job out of school from this mailing list, so I figured it's time to return the favor. Thanks! -David Zakar Former UMLUG President
