Hi,
I am Rahul Gaur, a second year Computer Science and Engineering student
from CCS University ,Meerut(Delhi-Ncr),India.
I am passionate about Linux,Apache Server, WebDev and Open Source Web
Technologies.Since last one year I have been pretty much intrigued by
Python and have been using it to solve my college assignments and problem
sets.Besides Python I have a fair coding experience with C , HTML and CSS.I
have also learned some basic Java and C++ at my school level.Web
Development is my main interest,Previously I have worked on Google Data
APIs to operate on Google Docs files using Google Login Feature and since
last one month I have been learning the principles and basics Google App
engine Platform with Python Sdk , experimenting with OAuth login and OpenId
Features.I had an idea , to create a WebApp on Google App engine platform
to conduct a midnight codding event for our College Students, kind of like
FACEBOOK HackerCup with OAuth or OpenId. For this particular Project I am
studying Django and Django Template Language.
I really liked the ideology behind UMIT projects and The Open Monitor
Project , Internet Censorship and propitiatory software is something I
totally disapprove and liked the idea of providing users with an ability to
be aware and well informed of their internet connectivity status and having
a control on the technology they use, thus being able to solve peoples
problems with the help of web and modern scientific technology is pretty
exciting.
So I am pretty much interested in working UMIT Project in this GSOC.
The Following Projects seems like what I have been searching for a while :
*[1]- The Aggregator - Open Monitor Project:*
* *Is this an individual project or it has to be done along with desktop
agent and mobile agent ..?
Can I get more guidelines on how can I prepare my self to work on this
project and what other skills I need to learn/improve ?
How can I obtain the source code , so that I can run it locally and study
to code base to get a better understanding of this module..
*[2]-The Network Administrator to the Cloud Land: *
* *I have been trying to run Network Administrator locally from the
src obtained from git-hub repo [0] , but I get the following traceback :
>
python manage.py test events networks reportmeta webapi

I am using Appengine SDK 1.6.3 and python2.7..
Thanks in advance !! :)
