It's a Linux boot CD compiled with the CVS content on 31st of March.

So it looks to me the problem is not with parted, but with the way it's
invoked.
Yeah, I tested it right now, too:
I've created a partition using "mkpartfs pri fat32 0% 100%", it worked
then as it should.
The fdisk -> parted code is wrong then.
