we have several machines in different configurations. Some are IDE, some 
are SATA, some have SATA with IDE emulation mode.

It seems we could fix this by using parted 1.6.22 with the current 
Unattended-CVS. On one machine, setting IDE mode to LBA worked, on the 
other, it didn't, but the 1.6.22 version seems to help in all ways.
