while booting edd tells the correct settings. On Thinkpads edd tells us 
240 heads 63 sectors, that is what needs to be written in the mbr.

If you configure the Thinkpad R60 in an sata compatiblility mode there 
is nothing in /proc/ide but the drivers file. This contains "ide-disk 
version 1.18". No /proc/ide/hda is available.

If you use AHCI (which is the default) there is a /proc/ide/hda file.
