I am not certain how I tell this for certain... If you compare the files that exist in SP7 (282010) to the files that exist in SP8 (829558): Service Pack 8 (829558) File Name Version Size ----------------------------------------- Dao360.dll 3.60.8025.0 561,424 Expsrv.dll 6.0.72.9589 380,957 Msexch40.dll 4.0.6807.0 512,272 Msexcl40.dll 4.0.8015.0 319,760 Msjet40.dll 4.0.8015.0 1,507,600 Msjetoledb40.dll 4.0.8015.0 348,432 Msjter40.dll 4.0.6508.0 53,520 Msjtes40.dll 4.0.8015.0 241,936 Msltus40.dll 4.0.6508.0 213,264 Mspbde40.dll 4.0.8015.0 348,432 Msrd2x40.dll 4.0.7328.0 422,160 Msrd3x40.dll 4.0.6508.0 315,664 Msrepl40.dll 4.0.8015.0 553,232 Msrpjt40.dll 4.10.5706.0 192,512 Mstext40.dll 4.0.8015.0 258,320 Mswdat10.dll 4.0.6508.0 831,760 Mswstr10.dll 4.0.6508.0 614,672 Msxbde40.dll 4.0.8025.0 348,432 Vbajet32.dll 6.0.1.9431 30,749 Service Pack 7 (282010) File Name Version Size ----------------------------------------- Dao360.dll 3.60.6508.2 561,424 Expsrv.dll 6.0.72.9589 380,957 Msexch40.dll 4.0.6807.0 512,272 Msexcl40.dll 4.0.6726.0 319,760 Msjet40.dll 4.0.7328.0 1,507,600 Msjetoledb40.dll 4.0.6807.0 348,432 Msjint40.dll 4.0.6508.0 151,824 Msjter40.dll 4.0.6508.0 53,520 Msjtes40.dll 4.0.7328.0 241,936 Msltus40.dll 4.0.6508.0 213,264 Mspbde40.dll 4.0.6726.0 348,432 Msrd2x40.dll 4.0.7328.0 422,160 Msrd3x40.dll 4.0.6508.0 315,664 Msrepl40.dll 4.0.6726.0 553,232 Mstext40.dll 4.0.7328.0 258,320 Mswdat10.dll 4.0.6508.0 831,760 Mswstr10.dll 4.0.6508.0 614,672 Msxbde40.dll 4.0.6726.0 348,432 Vbajet32.dll 6.0.1.9431 30,749 You will notice that Msjint40.dll is included in the SP7 (282010) release and that the only file that is additional in the SP8 (829558) release is Mstext40.dll. So, does this mean that we still need to install SP7 *and* SP8?!? If so, this sucks... especially since I can't find the SP7 file anywhere on MSoft's site... *groan* Where's apt-get when you need it!?! :) Michael > >> Also, for what it's worth, it looks like MSoft updated the file name >> for 810243... in the current winxpsp1-updates.bat it reads: >> >> todo.pl "%Z%\updates\winxpsp1\Q810243_WXP_SP2.exe /u /n /z" >> >> it should now read: >> >> todo.pl "%Z%\updates\winxpsp1\WindowsXP-KB810243-x86-%WINLANG%.exe /u >> /n /z" > > I just compared the files and they actually repackaged the hotfix. > Interesting. > > And good news.
