It is an artifact of running under Linux. I did not even notice until a coworker saw me building a machine and asked why it looked so strange... What a horrible detective I would make! I assume this is something to do with the console font. We could probably fix it, but I kind of like it as it is. It reminds me that I am running under Linux :-).
