As an Unattended user (our company uses it), I had felt like it was a rather
dead project until this thread began.

That's about 100% correct... I ignored unattended twice before finally
trying it out, and even after I tried it I had the feeling it was a dead
project. Wasn't until I joined the mailing list that I found out it's more
active.
